The Gaia Collection is our way of doing our part, and it can be yours too. We can’t solve the climate crisis on our own. But if we all take small steps toward sustainability—through the things we create and consume—we can make meaningful change in the world.
The Process
At Peachy Pet, we use 100% GRS-certified RPET webbing made from recycled post-consumer plastic bottles. The result is a soft and durable polyester material that’s just as strong as virgin polyester, but requires less energy and water to make.
ONE / Post-consumer plastic bottles (yup, the ones you throw into the recycling bin) are diverted from landfills and brought to a recycling facility.
TWO / The plastic bottles are cleaned and shredded into tiny flakes, which get heated and stretched into pellets.
THREE / The pellets are melted and pushed through tiny holes in a process called extrusion, which turns them into thread.
FOUR / The thread is spun into a material called RPET webbing! It's then colored with pet-safe dye and sewn into our products.
Our Impact
Each product in our new collection helps repurpose an average of 5 to 8 plastic bottles, depending on the product's size and design.
